Discord Timestamp Format

Discord timestamps use one syntax — — where unix is the Unix timestamp and style is a single letter that controls how the date is displayed. Here is every style code Discord supports, with examples.

The syntax

Write for the default style (Short DateTime), or add a style letter: . The lowercase "t" inside the angle brackets is part of the syntax; the style letter goes after the second colon.

t = Short Time (e.g. 3:30 PM) · T = Long Time (3:30:45 PM) · d = Short Date (08/10/2026) · D = Long Date (August 10, 2026) · f = Short Date/Time (August 10, 2026 3:30 PM) · F = Long Date/Time (Monday, August 10, 2026 3:30 PM) · R = Relative (2 hours ago).

Which style should I use?

Use R (Relative) for countdowns and reminders — it stays current automatically. Use F (Long Date/Time) for scheduled events and announcements. Use t or T when only the time matters.
